Project Overview
I designed and built a pair of modern yet inviting chairs that explore the balance between comfort and structure through a mix of materials: wood, metal, leather, and shearling upholstery. A defining feature of the design is the cantilevered backrest, which appears to float above the seat. The welded continuous metal frame creates a clean, seamless silhouette, while the soft, cloud-like shearling contrasts the structured materials.
The main challenge was achieving stability in the floating backrest without compromising its lightness. Through careful adjustments to angles and proportions, I created a balanced form, though future iterations would focus on strengthening the cantilever for long-term durability.

This project was an exploration of how contrasting materials and thoughtful form can come together to create an object that feels both sculptural and comfortable.
